In this edition of Get to Know Your Running Clubs we chatted with Michael Dion about Toronto’s Riverdale Athletics Club. You’ll often find them kicking around Riverdale Park, or training at Monarch park Stadium.

Hi Michael! Who are you? Give us your one line bio
I am the founder and coach of Riverdale Athletics I’m a level 3 certified coach in middle distance and distance and have degrees in Kinesiology and Education.
Tell us a bit about the club history
The Riverdale Athletics Club got started with one athlete in the summer of 2015, and it has grown to approximately 12-15.
Nice! Tell us a bit about your members
The runners that I work with have a broad range, everyone from recreational runners to elite level athletes.
Where/when do you usually meet and run?
From spring to fall we train at Riverdale park. In the winter we train out of monarch park stadium. On days not at the track, programs are given individually, based on goals
Any cost to be a member/join?
Membership is $60 per month and with that you receive a personal program based on your goals and 24hr communication.
Are you affiliated with any events?
None at the moment but we are looking at getting involved in the community at some level.
Anything else that we should know?
Although we are a performance type club, we are very social and have a great time training together. Come out to try us out for a few workouts to see if you are interested! Over the summer Riverdale has had some amazing results! 9th place at the Canadian 5k Championships, 5th and 11th at the waterfront 10k, 1st overall at the Durham 1/4 marathon, 1st in the woman at the Hamilton 10k, 2nd overall at the Zoo Run, plus 4th and 5th woman finisher, and 2nd at the Hamilton half marathon.
