Get to Know Your Running Clubs - RunningRats
In this edition of Get to Know Your Running Clubs we chatted with Mike Lin about Toronto’s RunningRats. You’ll typically find them running around the heart of downtown Toronto.
Want to learn more about them? Read on!
Hi Mike! Tell us a bit about the club history
The RunningRats was founded in 2002 by a group of runners that completed a marathon clinic at the Commerce Court Running Room. The Rats have gone on to complete many races around the world. We now have over 120 members and will be celebrating our 15th anniversary in 2017.
Nice! Tell us a bit about your members
We welcome all runners that are able to complete a 7k run and always have a moderate pacer on each run to ensure no one is left behind.
Where/when do you usually meet and run?
Every Tues at 6:00pm, we meet at the Downtown Yonge Running Room (53 Yonge St.) and typically offer 7k, 10k and 13k route options.
Any cost to be a member/join?
None! After running with us three times you gain official membership.
Where are your favourite spots to run in/around the city?
We love running downtown, there is much to see! Some of our routes will take us through University of Toronto, Trinity-Bellwoods Park, Queen's Quay and the Martin Goodman Trail.
We are happy to share all our routes with other runners and they are available on our website http://www.runningrats.com/tuesday-routes
Do you have any favourite races?
Anything else that we should know?
We like to think of ourselves as Toronto's friendliest running community, so come on out and join us for a run!
