Get to know your running clubs - Colorado Harriers

It’s another edition of Get to Know Your Running Clubs! This time we chatted with Joseph Arencibia about the Colorado Harriers.

Want to learn more about them? Read on!

Hi Joseph! Who are you?

I am the Head Coach and running geek. I believe in improving race performance with a strong foundation of durability and injury prevention.

Tell us a bit about the group history.

The club started in the summer of 2016. The Colorado Harriers are a running club focused on improving distance race performance through structured team training and individual workouts. We welcome all runners of all abilities. We suffer together in tough workouts, cheer each other in races, and celebrate each other with fun social events.

Our founding members are from New York, having run and raced for many years with our sister club, The New York Harriers, founded in 1988. While we've left "The City" behind, the team camaraderie and vibrant club racing scene were things we had to bring with us.

Nice! Tell us a bit about your members level of running.

We're an adult team, catering to anyone of any speed who's looking to improve, train for races, and do it in a supportive and structured team setting.

Where/when do you usually meet?

Thursday tempo workouts, 6:30 pm, at Highland Bridge & Platte St. Tuesday track workouts at either Denver North HS or Denver South HS tracks.

Any cost to be a member/join?

Free to workout with us anytime. Full members (your choice) are $50 annually and include a race singlet and personalized coaching plans.

Where are your favourite spots to run in/around the city?

For our Denver tempos, we like using the Commons Park area, which has some nice long interval distances. In Boulder, we love meeting at the Band Shell and hitting the Boulder Creek path.
