Get To Know Your Running Clubs - Wild Rose Runners

In this edition of Get To Know Your Running Clubs we're once again chatting with Ryan Chilibeck, this time about the Wild Rose Runners. You may also know him as the guy behind Vancouver BC's East Van Run Crew. This new crew was born out of a move to Edmonton, you can expect to find them out running the roads and trails of Alberta.

Want to learn more about them? Read on!

Tell us a bit about your club history, how long has the club been around?

New to the Alberta running scene, we are an odd offshoot to the mighty East Van Run Crew in Vancouver, BC. We follow similar philosophies on social running (no jerks allowed, social over competitiveness, beers before water) and we love exploring new spots of our growing cities.

Tell us a bit about your members! What level of runners do you cater to?

We cater to every runner. As long as you can put one foot in front of the other & are bringing something fun/unique/energetic to the group then it's an open door policy!

Where/when does the crew usually meet/run?

We meet and run out of different breweries, run shops & pubs in our cities. The best way to see where we're running is to check out our Facebook, or Instagram, @wildroserunners where we post all of our meetups.

Are your group runs mostly casual or more structured workouts?

Mostly casual runs

Any cost to be a member/join?

None. Always free!

Is your group affiliated with any events?

We're pretty new so no affiliations at this time.

Any cool routes/ favourite areas to run in your city that you would like to recommend to other runners?

Mill Creek Ravine is one of our favourites for trails. Lots of hidden single track in there. In South Edmonton, we like to explore in Blackmud Creek Ravine.

How about events? Do you have any favourite local races?

We'll race them all! The Edmonton Marathon is a great course, the MEC races are fun & the River Valley Revenge showcases all the best trails in Edmonton.

Love it! Any final thoughts/things that we should know about the crew?

If you are an Olympic athlete or just beginning, it doesn't really matter to us. Just show up and come for a run!
