Want to learn more about Halifax Running Room Run Club? Read on!

Hi Meghan! Tell us a bit about your club history, how long has the club been around?

We've been in Halifax for 20+ years.

Tell us a bit about your members! What level of runners do you cater to?

We cater to all levels of runners, from beginner to seasonal runners.

Where/when does your club usually meet/run?

We meet Wednesday nights at 6pm and Sunday mornings at 8:30am.

Are your group runs mostly casual or more structured workouts?

Mix of casual runs and structured workouts.

Any cost to be a member/join?

The run club is free, but you have to pay to join a clinic. Those who pay and sign up for one of our 10 to 18 week clinics, receive a free running t-shirt and the support of like-minded running friends to all reach a common goal race. As part of your clinic registration, you are invited to attend various clinic talks led by store staff, local physiologists, personal trainers, nutritionists and local runners plus many more to share their expertise and experiences.

Is your group affiliated with any events?

The Running Room is associated with a lot of local and provincial events, ranging from large organized events such as the BlueNose Marathon weekend where we have a big booth set up at the expo, pace bunnies during the races to help others achieve running time goals to smaller family-owned events such as the Dick Beazley 6-Miler and Arnold Robertson 2-Mile Road Race in Hantsport, NS. These small and large events really bring the community together and its fun for everyone.

Any cool routes/ favourite areas to run in your city that you would like to recommend to other runners? Why do you like those?

I like running through Point Pleasant Park. I like Point Pleasant because of the gravel wide running paths, views of the ocean, mix of flat paths and running hills.

Do you have any favourite local races? Outside of anything that you're affiliated with of course :)

Bluneose Marathon Weekend is a fantastic time!

Anything else that we should know?

All levels are welcome to join the free run club on Wednesdays and Sundays. See you there!
