Get to Know Your Running Clubs - Edmonton Trail Runners
In this edition of Get To Know Your Running Clubs we spoke with Sheryl Savard from the Edmonton Trail Runners. These folks are dedicated trail runners: every person, every pace, all the fun...'cause it's not just about the run!

Hi Sheryl! Tell us a bit about your club history, how long has the club been around?
The Edmonton Trail Runners was founded on September 18, 2014.
Tell us about your members! What level of runners do you cater to?
We have every level. We design each run with a various paces that lead and slinky throughout the group, including a sweep. Nobody is assigned in advance. People show up and choose who will do what. This accommodates trail blazers, mid-packers, and easy striders.
Where/when does your club usually meet/run?
Our scheduled runs are posted on Meetup: Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays. Runners can post runs at any time, which they often do.
Are your group runs mostly casual or more structured workouts?
Mix of casual runs and structured workouts.
Any cost to be a member/join?
Is your group affiliated with any events?
Any cool routes/favourite areas to run in your city that you would like to recommend to other runners? Why do you like those?
Two Truck Trail is a group favourite, not for the faint of heart. We also enjoy House Fall Down for hill repeats (near Terwillegar Dog Park but probably can't be found unless you come out with us). Mustang Sally is fun, especially if the run follows along to Trampoline Alley for some fun bounces.
Do you have any favourite local races? Outside of anything that you're affiliated with of course :)
Pack Mentality Run and Ultra: a grassroots race for a good cause. Every penny goes to support inner city kids programs.
Anything else that we should know?
We're high humour and low drama. Even though we attract our fair share of elites, everybody supports each other, no podiums needed. We don't take ourselves or others too seriously. Love what you do or why do it?
