Atlanta Heroes 6K
The Heroes 6K is a nation wide series of timed 6k races hosted by Heroes in Recovery. This organization celebrates the heroic efforts of those who seek the addiction and mental health help they need without feeling ashamed or isolated.
The 6K distance was chosen to symbolize the extra effort it takes to sustain recovery and so that each kilometer would represent one of the six letters in the word “HEROES.” Fun fact, the inaugural 6K was held in 2011 on a race course in Leiper’s Fork, Tenn., during the month of September (National Recovery Month). Since then, the series has grown to multiple events across the United States!
