Since its inception, the Atlanta HBCU Alumni Alliance (AHBCUAA) has galvanized thousands of HBCU alumni, family and friends in support of health awareness and scholarship. The race has a three-fold theme, Run For You, Run For Them, Run For Us. Run For You embodies the health aspect and the importance of getting active, Run For Them represents the scholarship dollars raised for future students of the great participating HBCUs, and Run For Us represents the strength and success of alumni achieved when the collectively work together.
The race is held annually in Atlanta's Piedmont Park. In addition to raising scholarship funds, the HBCU Run and Walk is a great way for alumni and friends to gather together in a friendly, although competitive, atmosphere. The post race party features an alumni village as well as a health fair.
The HBCU Run/Walk takes place in Atlanta's Piedmont Park, in a unique twilight time setting. The 185 acre park is the ideal setting for a race. Courses will take runners through the park, with sights such as Lake Clara Meer, Clear Creek and the Piedmont Dog Park. Both the 5k and 10k courses are USTAF certified, making them qualifiers for a variety of different races.
