The PurpleStride 5K Run and Family-Friendly Walk is the signature event for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Each year, thousands of runners across the country participate in 56 PurpleStride events. PurpleStride is run in honor of the more than 46,000 Americans who are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer ever year, with more than 39,000 dying from the disease. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death, with a relative five-year survival rate of just 6%.
Working against these numbers is the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer. Runners and walkers help raise money for this worthwhile cause.
Held at Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park, runners in the PurpleStride will have the opportunity to run through one of the best parks in the entire country. Built for th 1996 Olympic Games, Centennial Olympic Park hosts millions of visitors every year and is a popular destination for races in the Atlanta area.
