Chicago Spring Half Marathon
The Chicago Spring Half Marathon is an annual event that happens each May. The race features a fast and flat USATF-certified course along the lakefront, giving runners a good opportunity to shoot for a new PR. The Spring Half has two different distance options available. Runners can opt for a 10k run/walk, or take on the complete half marathon distance.
In recent years the Spring Half has attracted close to 3,000 entrants (half marathon and 10k distances combined). The course can support up to 3,500 runners making future sellouts quite likely.
Recently, the Spring Half became part of the Chicagoland Half Marathon Series. What does that mean? Well, if you run this event, the Chicago 13.1, and the Chicago Half Marathon you'll be eligible for a super cool medal at the ends of the season, plus a few other perks!
The half marathon and 10k both start at the same location at Millennium Park. Runners follow a wide lake front road south through the park before hitting turnarounds at each respective halfway point.
There are not major hills to worry about on this course, the only thing that runners will want to do is stay right to avoid any two way traffic at certain parts of the course.
