Race Information

The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot, sponsored by Capital One Bank, is the largest Thanksgiving Day running event in the country. The first Dallas Turkey Trot at White Rock Lake over 40 years ago had but 107 participants. Today it has grown into the undisputed "Way to Begin Thanksgiving Day" for the Dallas running community, boasting nearly 40,000 participants. Join the throng, along with the elite field, for this Thanksgiving morning 8 mile run or 5K.

The Dallas YMCA believes in strong kids, strong families and strong communities, and they are all represented at the Trot. Participants help support important YMCA programs.

Course Information

This event is at City Hall Plaza in Dallas at 1500 Marilla Street. Both the 5K and 8-mile courses will start heading east along Young and Canton streets. Runners then head north on Hall Street and west on Main and Commerce streets. All participants will then veer south on Market back to Young.

Then, the 8-mile course will head south along Lamar and feature a skyline view of downtown as it heads north back into downtown.

Meanwhile, 5K participants will head east to the finish line past Griffin Street. The 8-miler runners will head west to Houston Street, then venture south and east, around Reunion Park to a long straight push down Lamar Street past South Side Lamar to Pennsylvania Avenue. They will trot past views of the downtown skyline as they return northwest along Harwood, back to Marilla Street, to the finish.
