Annual Longmont Turkey Trot
Longmont Recreation Services is proud to present the Annual Turkey Trot 10K and 2 mile run/walk, benefiting the Longmont Recreation Services Youth Scholarship. Runners be warned though, this isn't any old race. The Turkey Trot about having fun, so this year's theme is "Star Wars" and "May the Force Run With You." Dress up as your favorite character and give it a go!
Runners will hit the course at 9am when the 10K kicks off, while the 2 mile run waits until 9:05am to get the ball rolling. After the race, runners are encouraged to check out the vendor village, filled with local vendors, and enjoy a complimentary meal before heading home. With over 1,500 runners, the annual Turkey Trot is a great way to celebrate the community of Longmont.
Both the 10K and 2 mile race will start at Altona Middle School. The 10K course will travel in a general square shaped route. Runners hook a left on Nelson Road before making their way to 75th Street. A right turn on St. Vrain Road is next followed by a right on Airport Rd. From there it is back to Nelson Road before finishing behind Altona Middle School.
The 2 mile course takes a different direction as runners head out on Clover Basin Drive towards Mountain Drive. After a spell on Mountain Drive, runners will turn onto the Greenway Trail to take it back to the finish line behind Altona Middle School.
