The course for The Greenland Trail Races is primarily run on a dirt trail. The course takes runners in a loop, with breathtaking views of Pikes Peak. Starting from the northern trailhead, the course takes participants south on the Old Territorial Road. At the first intersection, runners continue south towards Palmer Lake. After 3.5 miles, runners will turn left onto the Kipps loop and run up and over the saddle, which is the highest point of the course, with an elevation of 7,400 feet. Miles five through eight are all downhill. Runners take a right on the Greenland Trail near the seven mile mark. At this point, 50K and 25K runners will continue to run to their respective turn-around points and then follow the Greenland Trail back to the Old Territorial Road where they will continue the course again. Eight mile runners run to the finish line at the shelter area while 50K runners will compete the loop four times with 25K runners completing the loop twice.
