Slacker Half Marathon, Relay & 4 Mile
The Slacker Half Marathon is the highest downhill half marathon in the country and possibly the highest dowhill 4 Mile Run!
Don't be misled by the name, this race is a challenge! With the distinction of being the highest downhill half marathon in the country runners begins at 10,630 feet and continues traveling over a rolling hill descent to 8400 feet!
The race ends in downtown Georgetown where runners are cheered on by adoring fans and showered with more freebies than they know what to do with!
Beginning at the Loveland Ski Area, the half marathon travels the first five miles through a Forest Service area of wetlands and beautiful natural waterfalls on a paved, non-motorized, bike path, built to sustain the weight of an ambulance!
The next 4.4 miles has runners traveling from Bakerville to Silver Plume, along a paved frontage road with amazing views the remnants of mining operations and in the shadows of the Continental Divide.
The last portion of the half marathon, and the entire 4-Mile race, will take runners from Silver Plume to Georgetown on a paved bike trail (and paved road), providing scenic views of the Georgetown Loop Railroad and the largest Bighorn Sheep herd in Colorado!
