This is San Antonio's early season signature Half Marathon, nicknamed "Fight to the Finish" in the spirit of the defenders of the Alamo. The run actually starts with a cannon blast at the historic Alamo while the course showcases the city's cultural icons. Participants can also choose to complete a 5K or 10K run, or the 2-person relay over the Half Marathon course. Note that parking meters north of the Alamo are free on Sundays!
From the boom of the starting cannon you’ll zip past The Alamo and down historic Houston Street with the Buckhorn Museum and the Majestic Theatre. Then around to intimate Crockett Street and a view of the River Walk and past The Alamo again. There are amazing views as you head up to Dignowity Hill Park and across the Hays Street Pedestrian Bridge with it's vista of downtown San Antonio. Next up is the San Antonio Art Museum and then past Brackenridge Golf Course. Slide on thru the trees of Brackenridge Park onto the campus of The University of the Incarnate Word. Head back home past the San Antonio Zoo. Jump on the Museum Reach of the River Walk and under the colorful large fish. Exit the River Walk at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts and past Travis Park and back to a cascade of applause down the cobblestones to The Alamo Finish.
