Sunset Shuffle 6k
If you’re looking for a late summer foot race that’s a little bit unique, there isn't any choice better than the Sunset Shuffle held on the Toronto Islands. The race is put on by the Longboat Roadrunners and start time is 7pm on a Thursday evening. The flat and fast race is followed by a free dinner for runners of burgers, beer and homemade cookies. The race fee is a bargain (only $25 in advance!) and all proceeds benefit Start2Finish, a charity that provides educational support to at-risk children.
The race starts near the Ward’s Island Association Clubhouse and winds through the paved roads of the Island community. Ward’s Island tends to get busy on summer weekends, but since this race takes place on a Thursday you’ll probably find the course quiet and unobstructed. The course is flat and fast and offers a great shot at a new 6k PB.
