Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon
The Victoria Marathon is the largest event of it's kind on Vancouver Island, and is a "must run" event for any keen marathoner. The race happens annually on Thanksgiving weekend and features three distance options; an 8k, a half marathon, and the crown jewel of the event, the marathon distance.
In addition to local runners this run regularly attracts a large field of out of city/province runners along with a top field of elites from around the world. The marathon, which features a spectacular route, is usually a certified Boston marathon qualifier.
There are registrant caps on both the marathon and half marathon events and they have sold out in the past, we reccommend registering early to make sure that you secure a spot in this race.
Both the marathon and half marathon courses follow a similar start taking runners from the inner harbour up into Fairfield. Expect a few gradual uphill and downhill sections early in the race. Eventually runners get taken to the seawall where they run east until the course splits at a point where marathon runners continue on and half marathoners loop back along the seawall to the finish.
The maraton course continues on until it hits a second section of seawall, following that until a turn around point where runners retrace the route back to the finish downtown.
