2017 is upon us which means that it's once again time for the RunGuides Toronto Road Race Series Guide.

Read on to learn about some of the most popular road race series in and around the greater Toronto area, plus a few series around Burlington. Get race series summaries, learn about any cool stuff you can earn for completing a series, and most importantly, let us help you figure out how many doughnuts each series earns you!

Canada Running Series East

The eastern races of the Canada Running Series include four events in Toronto, and one half marathon in Montreal (which we're including as a bonus 5th event even though it's out of town). The series spans most of the year kicking off in April and finishing up with Canada's largest marathon in October.

What are the races?

Total distance if you run all the events: 30 km - 91.3 km

How many donuts may I consume upon completion of the race series?

Guilt-free donuts

Pretty big range on this one, we'll give you 3 on the low end and 9 plus a Montreal poutine if you max out the distance.

Do you get anything cool for completing the entire series?

There is a points and prize money system in both open and masters categories for top runners so if you're really fast you can go for some cash!

 

Toronto Women’s Run Series

The Toronto Women's Run Series is an annual series of races that span late spring to early Fall. This Women's race series has grown in popularity over recent years, a number of the distances do tend to sell out in advance.

Total distance if you run all the events: 15 km - 39.1 km

How many guilt-free donuts do I earn running the entire race series?

Guilt-free donuts

Complete the series and you're good for 3-5 doughnuts!

Do you get anything cool for completing the entire series?

You do get three cool medals, but nothing series specific at the moment.

 

MEC Toronto Road Race Series

This year MEC has split their race series into road and trail. The road series is continuing the trend of low cost, timed road races in and around the greater Toronto area. Distances range from 5k right up to full marathon.

What are the races?

Total distance if you run all the events: 35 km - 128.3 km

How many donuts can I eat with impunity for running the whole series?

Guilt-free donuts

Big range here. We're talking 4 - 13 donuts in order to properly recover after this series.

Do you get anything cool for completing the entire series?

MEC does offer a heavily discounted season pass that gives you an entry into every event in the series.

 

Angus Glen Running Series

The Angus Glen series of races features spring, summer, and falls runs that all happen at the Angus Glen golf course!

What are the races?

Total distance if you run all the events: 25.8 km - 40 km

What are we looking at for post race doughnuts here?

Guilt-free donuts

Safe to say that you can refuel with 3 - 5 sprinkly full size doughnuts if you complete this series.

Do you get anything cool for completing the entire series?

Yes! Runners who complete all three races in the series will be awarded with a special series medal at the end of the fall race.

 

Core Racing Series

This series of road races runs April through September and contains a group of races in Uxbridge, Ajax, and a few other greater Toronto areas.

Angus Glen Race Series

Number of races in this series: 5

What are the races?

Total distance if you run all the events: 25.27 km - 83.749 km

How many guilt free doughnuts can I eat if I run all of the runs?

Guilt-free donuts

Normally we would say 3 - 9, but the extra 0.749 km on the high end of the distance pushes you up to a 10'er on the guilt free doughnuts.

Do you get anything cool for completing the entire series?

Runners who place in the top 10 score points which put them in contention for cash at the end of the race season.

 

MEC Burlington Road Race Series

Pretty much the same deal as the Toronto races. The MEC Burlington series of road runs are low cost, timed road races that happen around Burlington and Hamilton. Two of these runs are trail races so while technically not a pure road series it's close enough for us.

Total distance if you run all the events: 22.5 km - 93.2 km

Studies have shown that the average runner can justify 4 - 12 doughnuts on this series.

MEC does offer a heavily discounted season pass that gives you an entry into every event in the series.

 

Burlington Runners Road Races

The Burlington Runners run club are involved in four races throughout the year; two road, and two trail runs. The road races have been going on for 38 and 44 years respectively, making them some of the most classic runs in the area!

Total distance if you run all the events: 13 km - 23 km

Finally, we get to tighten up the doughnut count! You get 2 sweet sweet guilt free doughy doughnuts for running both races. No judgement if you add a third in though...
