Houston Trail Race Series Guide

Run Fact! Yes, Houston is a darn big town of over two million, but trail running enthusiasts have their pick of beautiful parks and trails for running! Highlights include the 16.4 mile long Brays Bayou Trail and the shaded Rice University Trail. There are also plenty of opportunities for trail racing locally, and even more if you don't mind a bit of Texas travel.

Texas Trail Running Championship Series - Spring

This race series features the Piney Woods TrailFest in Houston's back yard, but also sends you chasing trails around the state. You'll score points in trail races throughout the great state of Texas towards age group and club awards. The goal of the series: Have fun and make friends! Participants can choose from several ways to score in the series.

What are the races?

Total distance if you run all the events: 762 km (473.5 miles)

How many guilt-free donuts can you eat if you run all the races?

Guilt-free donuts!

Do you promise to run the longest distance at each event? Yes? Okay! You may consumer two dozen guilt-free donuts! Take a day or two off from work for (donut) recovery.

Do you get anything cool for running the entire series?

The winning club gets a cooler full of cold beer. Goes great with donuts! Those who accumulate sufficient points get race discounts, and maybe even a trophy.

 

Trail Racing over Texas Cup

This series returns for 2017, again giving trail runners throughout the state of Texas a chance to compete in or near their own community, with several events happening near Houston. Embracing the series requires some travel around the state, but the rewards are big. You'll have a fantastic time running, competing and making friends within the Texas trail running community.

Total distance if you run all the events: 121.1 - 768.5 km (75.2 - 477.5 miles) plus 6 - 24 hours timed run!

Let's start with a dozen. What, you're still hungry? Okay, run it on up to 18, but please pace yourself! You don't want to crater just as the finish line is in sight!
