Hi Tania! Tell us a bit about Team in Training
Team In Training is a fundraising program benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. We are the only endurance sports training program raising money for blood cancer research.
Team In Training began in 1988 in NYC and since then more than 600,000 participants in Canada and the USA have raised more than $1 billion for blood cancer research. We provide coaching and training support to runners of all levels. Whether you want to complete your first 5k or achieve a marathon personal best we have the support to help you reach your goals.
Sounds great! How does it work? Any cost to be a member/join?
Participants pay a registration fee of $100 and commit to a fundraising goal. In exchange they can earn complimentary race entry, apparel and accommodations.
Our Team in Training members also get access to an online account that lets them connect with other TNT members and coaches so that they can support their training, organize group runs, or just meet up on race day!
Which events is TNT affiliated with?
There are so many! Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon; Ottawa Race Weekend; Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend; Volkswagen Prague Marathon. Visit our website to see our complete list of events (www.teamintraining.ca)
One local flavour question for you. As a Torontonian, where are your favourite spots to run in/around the city?
High Park is a personal favourite for the hills, trails and four-legged running sidekicks!
Anything else that we should know?
Last year, thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to invest more than $7.3 million in the creation of programs and delivery of services to improve the lives of Canadian affected by blood cancers. This included $2.7 million in life-changing research; $1.8 million to support individuals facing a cancer diagnosis; $2.7 million for patient programs and education.
