BMO Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run

Fools Half marathon

Date: April 8, 2018
Distance: Half marathon

This half marathon happens every April in Gibsons BC, and features a point to point course starting in Gibsons and finishing in Sechelt. The Fool's Half offers a rural setting, great finisher medals, a low entry fee, and friendly West Coast hospitality. Expect a few fun undulating hills on this one!

parkrun 5k vancouver

Date: Every Saturday
Distance: 5k

Parkrun is a weekly, free, timed 5k run that happens every Saturday in Richmond. The run is open to people of all ages and abilities. It's chip timed, and all you get an individual barcode that tracks your stats online.... forever!

MEC Vancouver Road Race THREE

Date: April 14, 2018
Distance: 10k, Half marathon

The MEC Vancouver road run series is in full stride, their third road event of the season feaures a 10k and half marathon looped course at Burnaby Lake. Expect the usual low cost entry fees, MEC post race goodies, plus chip timing and tons of high fives.

The Sun Run is Canada's largest timed 10k race, attracting around 50,000 participants into downtown Vancouver. The atmosphere for this race is unreal, it's an event that every Vancouver runner should experience at least once in their life.

MEC Vancouver Trail Race TWO

MEC Vancouver Trail Race Two

Date: April 8, 2018
Distance: 5k, 9K

MEC's second trail race of the season will be taking runners through the forest trails of Pacific Spirit Park. The 5k and 9k distances are $15 to run, are chip timed, and include all the usual post race goodies (coffee, tea, bananas, free high fives....).

Diez Vista 50k/100k

Distance: 50k, 100k

We don't really expect you to be signing up to go rip a 100k trail race last minute, but, if you happen to be around Belcarra Park in Port Moody on race day get out there and watch the action. Or, better yet, hop on as a volunteer and hand feed potato chips to spaced out trail warriors.

Short Course Orienteering

Date: Every Wednesday
Distance: As far as you can go in 45 - 60 minutes!

Orienteering is an exciting sport for all ages and fitness levels that combines running, with reading a detailed map and using a compass to find checkpoints. Pick your own route between the checkpoints, whether that's along a path, over a hill, or straight through the forest!

If you have future aspirations to take on the Barkley Marathon, or just want to add some hot navigation skills to your trail running game you'll want to check out the Greater Vancouver Orienteering Club's weekly event. Every Wednesday they set up at a local park and run a short course that allows beginners to learn, and more advanced runners to practice their skills.

5 Peaks British Columbia - Alice Lake

5 Peaks Alice Lake

Distance: Children's 1k & 3k, 8.5k, 13k

5 Peaks kicks off their BC series with a race up at Alice Lake near Squamish, runners can expect to make their way through some pretty fantastic terrain surrounded by towering mountains, dense forests and (if the snow has melted a bit) grassy areas.

Furry Tails Footrace

Furry Tails Footrace

Dog friendly run alert! The Furry Tails Footrace is a 5k/10k fun run/walk happening on the beautiful gravel trails at Derby Reach Regional Park. Proceeds from the run help Langley’s stray, lost and unwanted dogs and cats.
