The summer race season is underway and there are a TON of events happening in June around Toronto. We've hand picked a few road runs, trail runs, and obstacle course races that you might like. 

Ragnar Relay Niagara

Ragnar Relay Niagra

Date: Friday June 1 and Saturday June 2, 2018
Distance: Overnight Relay

The Ragnar Relay is a multi stage, overnight, point to point team relay race covering hundreds of kilometers in one straight shot. In the Niagara event you and your team of 12 members (or 6-member ultra team) get to experience the best parts of Ontario by foot. After you cross the finish line as a team, relax and peer at the U.S. from the sight where 150,000 gallons of water flow each second.. the majestic beauty of Niagara Falls!

Ride For Heart Run/Walk

Date: Sunday June 3, 2018
Distance: 5k & 10k

We're always "pumped" about heart health so the Heart & Stroke Foundation's Run/Walk & Ride for Heart is one awesome event on the calendar we want to share. It's an opportunity for runners to run on a completely traffic-free Gardiner Expressway. In the past this event was limited to cyclists, this is the second year runners are able to take part in the event with both 5k and 10k routes available.

Barrie Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, and Kids Run

Date: Sunday June 3, 2018
Distance: 5k, 10k & half-marathon

Take the 401 north up to Barrie and you can run a 5k, 10k or half-marathon along downtown Barrie's waterfront on the shores of Lake Simcoe. Don't feel like driving up alone? Corral your friends or colleagues to go with you when you sign up for any one of the Charity, Team or Gym/Club Challenges. See, running isn't so lonely now is it?

5 Peaks Ontario Race 2

5 Peaks Ontario Race Two

Date: Saturday June 9, 2018
Distance: 5.3k, 12.7k, 2 to 3 km kid's timed race & 1km FREE children's challenge 

Spoiler alert! This 5 Peaks event takes place at Rattlesnake Point, touted as perhaps the most technical of the Ontario courses. We're guessing the kid's races are on the flatter trails? Situated along the Niagara Escarpment, runners are treated to some incredible single track so enjoy the huffing and puffing of fellow runners on some tight trails.

Rugged Maniac Toronto

Toronto ladies just love to run! The Divas Half Marathon and 5k is one of North America's largest women-focused running events with multiple races across the continent. On June 10th, the Divas returns to Toronto Island, this running series is seriously all about girl power (pink tutu recommended).

Conquer the Canuck

Date: Saturday June 9 and Sunday June 10, 2018
Distance: 8.33k, 25k, marathon, 50k & 92.2k (Ultimate Canuck - 2 day staged) 

Part of the Ontario Ultra and Trail Series (OUTRace), Conquer the Canuck features a number of different distance options for all levels of trail ambition. The race happens near Cambridge, about an hour west of Toronto. If you're a sucker for punishment, know that the Ultimate Canuck is done in two days with a 50k on day one and the marathon on day two. Good luck with that one!

Toronto Waterfront 10K

Date: Saturday June 16, 2018
Distance: 10k

Awww shucks, registration is already full for this event but there's still a chance to join the race atmosphere by volunteering yourself to cheer! The Toronto Waterfront 10k is a fast downtown dash put on in partnership between Lululemon and Canada Running Series. The race brings in elite runners from around the world and has a reputation for being well-organized, well-corralled, full of spirit and crowd supported.

Niagara Ultra

Date: Saturday June 16, 2018
Distance: 10k, half-marathon, marathon, 50k & 100k 

For those looking for a different view of Lake Ontario? The Niagara Ultra will take you along the paved trails by one of Canada's most famous natural sights. Bonus for walkers (not the zombie kind)- you can participate in all of the race lengths provided you can complete them in the allotted time. This is an official event in the Ontario Ultra and Trail Series (OUTRace).

Waterloo 10km Classic

Date: Sunday June 17, 2018
Distance: 3k, 5k & 10k

An annual 3k, 5k, or 10k road race and a popular one, to boot! The Waterloo 10km Classic is a family-friendly Waterloo region event with refreshments, entertainment, prizes and giveaways. Prices go up May 14 and June 10 so don't delay...

Pride and Remembrance Run

Date: Saturday June 23, 2018
Distance: 3k & 5k

You definitely want to stay in the city as the summer heats up, the annual Pride and Remembrance Run is always a good time because it coincides with Toronto's Pride Parade. Walk the 3k course or run the full 5k before the parade begins. This event is Ahhh-MAZING as it supports charitable organizations withing Toronto's LGBT community.

MEC Toronto Road Race FOUR

Date: Sunday June 24, 2018
Distance: 5k10k & half marathon

The fourth race of MEC Toronto's season is a 5k, 10k, and half marathon that happens at Tommy Thompson Park. Expect all the usual goodness from MEC; a chip timed course, post race bananas, and sub $20 entry fees if you sign up in advance!

Pure Grit Trail Race

Date: Saturday June 23, 2018
Distance: 2.5k kids run, 7.5k, 15k, 30k & 52.5k 

The South Bruce Peninsula Sawmill Ski Trail is definitely a bit of a drive from Toronto, but the scenery is worth the drive alone. Pure Grit features a combination of double and single track trails, distances range from a 2.5k kids run to the new Ultra distance of 50k +. This run is part of the OUTRace series.

Spartan Race Toronto

Date: Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24, 2018
Distance: OCR 5k & 13k

This isn't Sparta! But close enough... If you haven't heard of it the Spartan Race is an obstacle course race where participants attempt to run through numerous obstacles as fast as possible. The race will take place at Ski Brimacombe and features two distances; Sprint (around 5k) and Super (roughly 13k) both with about 20+ obstacles on the way.
