Here are a few Chicago area runs that you may want to consider racing this September!

Women Rock Chicago

Date: September 2, 2017
Distance: 2.5k, 5k, 10k, Half Marathon

Ladies, this is the event you have been waiting for! Get ready for handsome men giving out bling at the finish line, and a bubbly post race party. Women can choose to run a 2.5k, 5k, 10k, or half marathon, or can participate in the triple distance rock starlet challenge. Rock starlet challenge participants run the 2.5k, then the 5k, then the 10k back to back. Super Rock starlet challenge participants can take on the 2.5k, the 5k, then the half marathon.

Fling Mile & Rooster 5K

Date: September 4, 2017
Distances: 5k, 1 mile

The Rooster 5K and Fling Mile are two seperate races that The Naperville Jaycees organize for Labor Day Monday before the Last Fling Parade. Participants can elect to run either the mile, the Rooster 5k, or put themselves into the challenge category and take on both races!

Run Mag Mile

Date: September 9, 2017
Distance: 5k, 10k

Run Chicago’s iconic Magnificent Mile this fall at the only race to exclusively feature one of the city’s main attractions. This scenic course takes participants down Michigan Avenue, passing the Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower, Water Tower Place, John Hancock Center, and Chicago’s most glamorous shops and boutiques. With 5k and 10k distances, this race is great for new runners, local visitors, or the more competitive runner looking to PR on the flat course.

The Great Pumpkin Run

Date: September 6, 2017
Distances: 5k, Fun Run

The Great Pumpkin Run is a 5K run for the entire family. Celebrating autumn, the race takes place on a farm, and runners are given apple cider and a pumpkin to take home. A chip timed race, you can run for fun, for time or as a Tough Pumpkin. To be a Tough Pumpkin, you'll need to carry a pumpkin weighing up to 10 pounds with you while you run and cross the finish line with it intact (you get to keep the pumpkin)!

Muckfest MS Chicago

Date: September 16, 2017
Distances: Obstacle Course Run

All you need to bring are your sneakers and a great sense of humor. Muckfest MS Chicago is all about the laughs with a purpose. Funds raised help to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. MuckFest MS is built for laughs and muddy from the get-go. Teams run in the same wave so you can experience all the muddy shenanigans, epic spills and thrills together.

Ready to Run 20 Miler

Date: September 17, 2017
Distance: 20 miles

The perfect event to test yourself before choosing your fall marathon. A fully supported point-to-point run along Chicago's Lakefront Path, the 20 miler mimics marathon conditions from gear check and rides back to the start to pacers and pace groups running seven to 12 minute mile pace.

Fox Valley Marathon

Date: September 17, 2017
Distances: Half Marathon, Marathon

Combining small race atmosphere with big race amenities, the Fox Valley Marathon Races are ideal for both veterans looking for a fast Boston Qualifier as well as first timers looking for an uncrowded, supportive, family-friendly race setting. Starting and ending in historic downtown St Charles, IL, the course winds through picturesque Geneva, Batavia, North Aurora, and Aurora to a spectacular finish across the Fox River that can be seen from over a mile away.

Bucktown 5k

Date: September 17, 2017
Distance: 5k

Welcome to Chicago's "Neighborhood Race". This is one of the city's only 5k races run entirely on closed city streets. You will enjoy a beautiful course through the historic area then join the post-race party with a live DJ, street performers and inflatables for kids.

Chicago Half Marathon

The Chicago Half Marathon is one of Chicago's premier hometown races. This event is the only race in Chicago that completely shuts down Lake Shore Drive, giving you an opportunity to see the city in a way that's usually not possible.
