The weather is starting to cool down a little, and just in time for some exciting and fun-filled racing options in San Antonio. Check out below for the upcoming road and trail races. 

River City Half Marathon 5k & 10k


Date: September 3, 2017
Distance: Half Marathon, 5k & 10k 

The River City Half Marathon 5k & 10k is a chip timed race with great aid stations, finish line food and awesome awards.  The course runs along the beautiful Leon Creek Greenway in San Antonio, Texas. You will see some amazing local wildlife and great south Texas scenery along this paved trail.

SARR Labor Day Whine Run 5-mile/5K


Date: September 4, 2017
Distance: 5-mile run, 5k

The San Antonio Road Runners (SARR) invite you to the Dry Comal Creek Vineyards for a Labor Day 5-mile run in New Braunfels, a bit over 30 miles from San Antonio up I-35. SARR puts on a fine, well-organized race over a beautiful (if challenging) course. The post race celebration is held on the grounds of the vineyard.

Zoo Run Relay


Date: September 15, 2017
Distance: 8-mile relay 

Grunt and growl with your friends at this unusually fun running event. Teams of four runners cover two miles each in the chip timed relay run fundraiser for the San Antonio Zoo. Each runner loops through the zoo and Brackenridge park.

El Grito Run 5K


Date: September 16, 2017
Distance: 5k

The fourth annual El Grito Run 5K takes place at Mission Concepcion Park. The race will be chip-timed so be ready to walk, run or roll. Individual racers or sponsored teams are welcome. There will be unique medals for all the race participants and special awards for the overall winners. Get excited for some live Mariachi!

Loteria Run  


Date: September 16, 2017
Distance: 5k

This 5K run is held at Lady Bird Johnson Park and has a 7pm start time. Dress up, bring a friend, run a 5K and then fiesta after!

Head for the Cure 5k


Date: September 23, 2017
Distance: 5k

Head for the Cure San Antonio is a family-friendly 5k race that helps raise awareness and funding to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, and caregivers while celebrating their courage, spirit, and energy.

This event is open to all participants: from walkers to competitive runners.

Battle of Salado Creek 8k & 16k


Date: September 23, 2017
Distance: 8k & 16k 

The Battle of Salado Creek 8K & 16K is race number 2 of the 4 race Alamo Beer Marathon series. The idea here is to prepare runners for the December Rock 'n' Roll Marathon or Half Marathon with a series of fitness building races. Organizers want you to have fun getting there also, with food and beer at each race. You are introduced to some of the great places in San Antonio to get a locally brewed beer, and to run, as you enjoy getting closer to your ultimate race goal.
