Austin Turkey Trot Guide


The Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot is a running community tradition!

It's a great way to start off this wonderful holiday. Enjoy some fresh air while you take on a physical challenge and connect with the community at these running events. You will have an extra bounce in your step when you return home and spend quality time with friends and family watching football and feasting on delicious turkey, stuffing, cranberries and more.

Turkey Trails 5k/10k

The annual Turkey Trails run (part of the Bodies Race Series) is a Thanksgiving-themed run that is perfect for the whole family. The run includes great swag (designer shirt, custom medal), chip-timing, live results and awards, free photos, costumes, free kids’ dash, great post-race food, and plenty of fun race day activities!

ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot

Distance: 5 Mile run, 1-Mile walk and Kids K

This popular Thanksgiving Day race draws 20,000 participants to downtown Austin for a pre-turkey dinner run. There is a 5 mile family run, a 1 mile walk, and a Kids K in the streets around downtown. For a fun and inviting atmosphere there are separate start times for each of the runs; the timed and untimed races, as well as the 1 mile walk. There are also kids activities provided by Stepping Stone School, a live band, and a raffle for a brand new Honda Accord Sedan EX CVT provided by First Texas Honda. This event supports Caritas of Austin whose mission is to help people in poverty by serving meals, finding employment and providing housing to those less fortunate.

Buda Turkey Trot

The Buda Turkey Trot is a 5K run/walk through the heart of the great city of Buda, TX! This event aims to start a new family and community tradition to celebrate Thanksgiving and give back to the community around them. Kids 10 and under are FREE and youth and seniors have special pricing so bring the whole family and invite friends to celebrate Thanksgiving! Proceeds benefit the Hays County Food Bank.

Round Rock Turkey Trot

6th Annual Lake Forest Turkey Trot

Distance: 5 Mile & 2 Mile Fun Run
Run Size: 1,500

Put your turkey in the oven and join the Round Rock community for this family-friendly Thanksgiving morning run. Challenge your family, friends, and co-workers to come out and run on the roads and trails through the scenic and historic Old Settlers Park. The event features an untimed 5 mile and 2 mile run/walk on paved paths. After the race spend some time at the post-race party with sponsor booths, refreshments, prizes, and giveaways. Proceeds will benefit the Backpack Coilotion, Round Rock Serving Center and Operation Blue Santa.

Steiner Ranch Turkey Trot

This neighborhood fun run begins at Towne Square Park, and will feature a 5k and Kids Fun Run. There will also be live music, fun activities and free food to help celebrate the day. This event supports a great cause as a portion of registration fees will be donated to Community First.

Cedar Park Turkey Day 5K

Distance: 5k, 1 mile & Kids mile
Run Size: 500

If you live in close proximity to Cedar Park you and the kids can dash around and still make it home in time to enjoy a big turkey dinner! The 5K course has some moderate hills and some flat portions. The Shake A Leg  Mile and Kids Mile takes place inside the stadium Loop Road and is free of vehicles coming and going.  The major intersections are handled by Cedar Park Police and you have a full lane all the way around the course. Stay after for Music, Fun, Great Food, and a Family Environment!

Carlson Law Firm's Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot

Pfeathered Pfun Run

Distance: 10k, 5k, Kids 1k
Run Size: 150

Pflugerville hosts the annual Pfeathered Pfun Run 5k, 10k and Kids K on the crushed gravel trails around Lake Pflugerville, safe from vehicle traffic. The 5k course is one loop around Lake Plfugerville and the 10k is two loops around. Awards are given out to the top five male and female runners, all participants receive a finishers medal, and proceeds benefit the local food banks.

Georgetown Turkey Trot

Join your family, friends, and community to come out and run on the roads and trails in Georgetown that starts and finishes in beautiful downtown Georgetown on the square. Proceeds will be shared between the Williamson County Meals on Wheels and Friends of Georgetown Parks and Recreation (Park Pals).

The annual Dripping Springs Thanksgiving Day 5k race in Highpointe is a fun family-friendly event. The event is organized and run by the Dripping Springs students and their families with the mission of giving back to the community. With the assistance of Helping Hands, all proceeds from this event are donated to local families in need.
