The Atlanta Half Marathon and Thanksgiving Day 5K attracts thousands of runners and walkers eager to share in the holiday spirit and give thanks for their health and fitness. Held every Thanksgiving, runners take to the streets to challenge themselves before heading home to feast. Starting at Turner Field, runners will have the opportunity to explore the local communities on courses that take them throughout the surrounding neighborhoods.

Tryptophan Half Marathon

Distance: Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k
Run Size: 1,500

Tryptophan Half Marathon has become a North Georgia tradition to begin your Thanksgiving Day festivities. Before digging into their Thanksgiving feast, runners will work up their appetite participating in one of the three distances: Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K. All proceeds from this event benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Southside Turkey Trek 5K

Start your Thanksgiving Day with a beautiful trail run on the campus of Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville, home of some of Georgia's top cross country races. This is an awesome course with wide grass and dirt trails perfect for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities!

Five Star Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

Date: November 23, 2017
Time: 8:00 a.m.
Distance: Half Marathon, 15k, 10k and 5k
Run Size: 1,000

This exciting Thanksgiving Day race is fun for the whole family. A flat 5K loop allows runners to run with friends and family for as many laps as they signed up for. Four loops add up to the Half marathon for those seeking the longest distance. There is plenty of entertainment along the way, so runners don't have to worry about getting bored. In the holiday spirit the Lambert High School's "Blessings in a Backpack" student organization will be on hand collecting food donations to give to those in need.

Blue Ridge Turkey Trot

Date: November 23, 2017
Time: 8 a.m.
Distance: 5k
Run Size: 500

You will need to head up north for this race. The Blue Ridge Turkey Trot takes place in Downtown Blue Ridge on Thanksgiving Day. This race is for the whole family and all abilities, from walkers to the serious competitor are welcome. Since it is only 5k you will have plenty of time to be home to put the turkey in the oven!
