Austin Runs you Might Like - December

Holiday season is here, and that means some quality time with family and loved ones. It is also time for plenty of spirited runs with great themes. Why not garb your relatives and check out one of these great runs this December?

Here is a list of road and trail runs happening in and around Austin this month. 

Road Runs

Old Town Rudolph Run

Date: Decmber 2, 2017
Distance: 5k

The annual Old Town Rudolph Run 5K takes place in Old Town Leander. This chip timed event starts in the Heart of Old Town and tours through the streets of Leander. The course is flat and fast with no hills or rough terrain. The post-race festival will include children’s activities, food trailers, entertainment, & Santa. Every 5K entrant will receive a high quality shirt.

Austin Heroes 6K

Date: December 2, 2017
Distance: 6k

The Heroes 6K is a nation wide series of timed 6k races hosted by Heroes in Recovery, an organization that celebrates the heroic efforts of those who seek the addiction and mental health help they need without feeling ashamed or isolated. The 6K distance was chosen to symbolize the extra effort it takes to sustain recovery and so that each kilometer would represent one of the six letters in the word “HEROES.”

Decker Challenge Half Marathon

Date: December 10, 2017
Distance: Half Marathon

The Austin Runners Club invites you to accept the Decker Challenge! Are you ready to tackle a tough hill at the ten mile mark of a Half Marathon? The Decker Challenge Half Marathon covers an out-and-back loop on a hilly course through the Austin area countryside and around Decker Lake. The event starts and finishes at the Travis County Expo Center.

BCS Marathon/Half Marathon

Date: December 10, 2017
Distance: Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay

The Bryan/College Station Marathon (BCS Marathon) is one of the most highly rated marathons in Texas! Enjoy the opportunity to explore the Bryan/College Station community as well as the Aggie spirit while you run throughout the Texas A&M campus. The event also has a Half Marathon and Marathon Relay event. Everyone will receive a participant shirt and all race finishers will receive a technical fabric finisher’s shirt and custom finisher’s medal.

Austin Jingle Bell 5k

Date: December 10, 2017
Distance: 5k

Jingle, jingle your way through this fun chip-timed 5K held at The Domain. Organizers hand out bells to all the runners to make for a chiming good time! This family friendly event beneifts Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Children who participate will receive a participants medal and the top three runners in each division will receive a finisher's medal.

Trail Runs

Mosaic Trail Run

Date: December 2, 2017
Distance: Half Marathon, 15k, 10k, 5k, 2 mile, and 1 mile

This trail run is a community running event right on the outskirts of Austin, TX, at a historic Texas landmark ranch. Mosaic Trail Run was designed to bring people together for a common goal of being united in beautiful scenery, and having adventures together.  This site is host to a children's trail run of 1 and 2 miles; the Texas Trail State Championships for Middle School and High School; and regular open 5k, 10k, 15k, and 13.1 mi races.
