The Anchorage Mayor's Marathon has a rich history. With the event taking place on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice, roughly 22 hours of daylight illuminates Anchorage. You can run, day or night and it would still be light out.
The Marathon, Half-Marathon, 5K, and relay event is a summer solstice tradition, for more than 40 years. Runners all over the world head to Anchorage in June of each year to explore the midnight sun, check Alaska off their ‘dream of a lifetime’ bucket list and most importantly…..race, run, and have fun!
This race is certified by USA Track and Field and is recognized by the Boston Marathon as a qualifying event.
For 2021, there will also be a virtual event.
