The run happens on a spectacular course on the Westside Road in the heart of the Badwater Basin. A permit has been granted to run on the northern end of the road to facilitate the marathon, half marathon, & 10K. The half marathon and 10K will be a single out and back. The marathon will do this route twice. The turnaround point is within a few miles of the lowest point (-282 feet) in North America in the Badwater Basin and in the shadow of Telescope Peak (11,043 feet).

This course will be one of the most stunning and beautiful runs that you will ever experience and is surrounded by the vast wilderness of Death Valley. The run starts and finishes at, essentially, sea-level elevation. The lowest point on the course is -265 feet. When you start the run, you will be facing Telescope Peak in the Panamint Range and, when you return to the finish, you will be facing the magnificent Artist’s Palette.
