Fernie Half Marathon
Race Information
The Fernie Half Marathon/3 Person Relay is a 21 km run through the extensive trail system in Fernie, B.C. The run starts and finishes in Fernie’s Annex Park, 11th Street & 12th Avenue, located along the beautiful Elk River a few blocks off Hwy 3. The trails follow along the Elk River, across the foot of Mount Fernie, along wooded areas in Coal Creek and through Fernie’s beautiful James White Park.
The 10K route is the same as the half marathon but at the first relay exchange the half marathoners keep running straight and the 10K turn right away and go down RV park road. Then run the same route behind Maiden Lake but then when runners arrive at Annex Park, the 10K runners go right on the dike and half marathoners go left. The 10K allows both running and walking participants. Strollers are permitted though not recommended due to the uphill which is littered with long grass.
