Course Type Trail

Race Information

Paingana is a part of the Ultra Hard Series. Its name is a wordplay on "Pengana", an eminently steep slope near Woolshed Gully in Cleland Conservation Park near Sydney. It used to be a practice ground for The North Face 100 event. It's now a challenge that everyone can attempt.

The event offers 3 distances: 50km, 30km, and a 10km "hot lap". Each loop is slightly less than 10km. To bridge the distance gap, participants have to do a set ascent of the Long Ridge Lookout. They have to climb it twice for the 50km course and once for the 30km.

You can also participate in the teams category where each participant runs a leg.

Expect aid stations to be spread apart and come prepared with mandatory gear.

Beginner Runner Training Plans

Are you looking to become a runner for the first time? Coming back to running after a hiatus? Our friends at None to Run have created a gradual training plan for beginner runners!

In 3 workouts of 30 minutes or less per week, None to Run will take you from ground zero to running comfortably for 25 minutes straight.

None to Run is different from most beginner plans:

  • Focuses on running time. NOT distance or pace.
  • Includes simple strength and mobility workouts. No equipment required.
  • Progresses slowly to decrease the chances of getting injured.

If you can't currently run for more than 5-minutes straight without stopping to catch your breath, you're in the right place.
