The Tarawera Ultra-Trail by UTMB is a premier trail running event held in Rotorua, New Zealand, renowned for its breathtaking natural landscapes and welcoming atmosphere. The event features four race distances:

TMiler – 163 km with 3,700 meters of elevation gain

T102 – 103 km with 2,200 meters of elevation gain

T50 – 52 km with 1,150 meters of elevation gain

T21 – 23 km with 400 meters of elevation gain

Each course is designed to showcase the stunning scenery of the Rotorua region, including eight different lakes, waterfalls, and lush native New Zealand forests. The trails are predominantly non-technical and runnable, making them accessible to runners of all abilities. The event aims to provide a supportive environment where participants can experience the beauty of trail running and the camaraderie of the running community.

The Tarawera Ultra-Trail by UTMB is part of the UTMB World Series, offering runners the opportunity to earn Running Stones, which can be used to qualify for other UTMB events worldwide. The event also emphasizes inclusivity, with generous cut-off times and a focus on ensuring all participants can reach the finish line.
