Race Information
Cairn University Athletics and RUN 12:1 Running Club are excited to host the Rock Your Socks 5K run/walk for Down Syndrome. World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is celebrated every year on March 21st because people with Down syndrome are born with 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. And because crazy and colorful socks are a symbol of WDSD, everyone is requested to wear the craziest, most colorful pair (or mismatched pair) of socks they can during the race to help raise awareness for Down syndrome.
Race medals will be awarded to all runners (instead of the traditional race shirt)! In addition to traditional race prizes, prizes will also be awarded to those with the craziest socks at the live event. The proceeds from this event will go toward the Cairn Student Scholarship Fund for a student planning to work with individuals with special needs. There is also a virtual option for those who prefer or are unable to join the in-person race on race day.
