Race Information

The Gulch Countdown is a unique "Last Person Standing" event held in Mukilteo, that challenges runners to beat an ever-shrinking clock. Participants tackle a 2.18-mile single-track trail loop with 250 feet of elevation gain, starting with a 32-minute cutoff for the first lap. With each subsequent lap, the time limit decreases by one minute (and eventually by 30 seconds after the marathon distance), forcing a faster pace as fatigue sets in. The race continues until only one runner can complete the loop within the allotted time, featuring a strategic twist where runners can choose their loop direction for the first eight laps. Featuring a festive atmosphere at the start/finish line and a "Fastest Lap" competition, this event pushes athletes to find their absolute limit in a high-pressure, community-driven trail setting.
