This race is held to raise funds for the Saint Maria Goretti "Community Outreach Ministry and Food Pantry". The Community Outreach Ministry believes that there are many within its community who may be in need of some support. They also believe that they can make a difference by providing supplemental food to their neighboring communities. They support these neighboring communities by need rather than by parish borders. In addition, the race provides an opportunity for runners (and walkers) to come together on a Saturday morning to exercise and then break bread over breakfast.
