Race Information

Race 4 Research began in 1997 when friends of Michele Plachy-Rubin, a Denver kindergarten teacher, wife, and mother diagnosed with brain cancer, organized a community race to raise funds for local cancer research. Michele proudly walked in the inaugural event with her young son before passing away in 1998. Today, Cancer League of Colorado continues Michele's legacy by hosting this annual event, which welcomes more than 1,000 runners, walkers, families, volunteers, and supporters each year. Open to participants of all ages and abilities, the race offers a fun, family-friendly experience with a post-race Expo featuring a free pancake breakfast, beer garden, music, Kid Zone, games, and sponsor booths. Participants can run, walk, create fundraising teams, honor loved ones on the Miracle Mile, or simply support the cause. Every dollar raised stays in Colorado, funding innovative cancer research and patient services. Since 1969, the all-volunteer Cancer League of Colorado has awarded more than $26 million to advance lifesaving research, giving hope to patients and families across the state.
