"...after mile 7, we were in shade most of the way back."
2014 American River Parkway Half Marathon Race Recap
"The first problem was that there weren’t any bag pipers that usually start the race by walking through the runners. This year it was a high school drum team. They did fine, but they were no bagpipers."

Race Information

Half marathon runners will travel upriver along the American River on an out-and-back route with a key-hole loop starting at mile 3.5 and ending at mile 9.5. The Parkway is the only half marathon in the world with a separate course for runners and walkers. Half marathon walkers will navigate the historical runners’ half marathon course which is an out-and-back, downriver route.

The half marathon run, the half marathon walk, the 5k run/walk and the kid's dash all have separate starts.

Participants can register for a unique bit of swag - a personalized finisher medal!

The race begins at 1530 Howe Ave in Sacramento.
