The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is the largest Thanksgiving Day running event in Dallas. The Dallas Turkey Trot was first held at White Rock Lake in 1970 with only 107 participants. Today, it has grown into the undisputed "Way to Begin Thanksgiving Day" for the Dallas running community. The Trot consists of both certified 5k and 8-mile races for serious runners. The 5k is also the choice course for new runners, families with young kids/strollers, grandparents, and anyone looking to take their time and enjoy the morning with friends and family. There is also a 1k Junior Trot!
