The Run of Pi
The "Run of Pi" is a non-traditional fun run. Instead of your typical 5k road race (3.10 miles),we are extending the course 4 hundredths of a mile (i.e. 3.14 miles) to debut the "Run of Pi". The race course will be held on the main campus of the University of Houston. The "Run of Pi" is a fundraising event to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic (STEM) programs in the Houston area. The elementary, middle, and high school teams that represent with the most number of registered participants will be awarded a grant to support an existing STEM program at their respective school. The mission of the 2017 Engineers Week "Run of Pi" is to give back to the community by promoting a healthy and engaging activity. Profits raised as part of the fun run will be divided and awarded as grants to existing Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) programs to the top elementary, middle, and high schools who have the most registered participants in the fun run.
