Ted's Run for Literacy
Ted's Run for Literacy is an annual 5k and 10k running event organized in memory of Ted Swain, a former teacher of English at Vincent Massey Collegiate in Winnipeg. Ted was also a dedicated running coach.
To date, Ted's Run for Literacy has raised approximately $30,000 to help break the cycle of childhood poverty.
The run supports CanU, an after school program that inspires hope and confidence in Winnipeg children living at or below the poverty level. CanU's main "big ideas" are around Nutrition, Sport, and Literacy.
The 10k course is out and back and runners should be cautioned that the first 1/2 block of the course outside of Kildonen Park is in rough condition. The 5k course is the first half of the 10k out and back course. Turnaround point is at 328 Scotia Street. Strollers and walkers are welcome to participate. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the course.
