Tell us a bit about your club history, how long has the club been around?
Clocktower Runners comprises a group of individuals that began the journey of marathoning years ago and through the experience have found an opportunity to bring together others to reach similar goals.
The organization was founded in 2008 with the goal of creating a running club that provides a free marathon training program for participants interested in running the Chicago Marathon.
Tell us a bit about your membership? What level of runners do you cater to?
We cater to runners of all levels including the first time marathoner to expert runners
Where/when does your club usually meet/run?
We meet every Saturday morning throughout the year, starting from the Waveland Clocktower on Chicago's lakefront.
During the training season for the Chicago Marathon [June 3 to October 8, 2017], we meet at 6:30 am, have formal pace groups, and follow the marathon training schedule.
During the remainder of the year [October 14 to late May 2018], we meet at 8:00 am for training runs for other races or fun runs. Pace and distance are up to each individual runner but most people typically run between 6 and 12 miles.
Any cost to be a member/join?
Membership is free! We accept donations.
Is your group affiliated with any events?
We are affiliated with the Chicago Marathon.
Do you have any favourite local races? Outside of anything that you're affiliated with of course :)
Anything else that we should know?
If you are looking for a running group in Chicagoland that specializes in marathon training we are the group for you.
