Portland Turkey Trot Guide

The Thanksgiving weekend Turkey Trot is a running community tradition! 

It's a great way to start off this wonderful holiday and feel just fine about going back for seconds at the dinner table. Enjoy some fresh air while you take on a physical challenge and connect with the community at these running events. You will have an extra bounce in your step when you return home and spend quality time with friends and family watching football and feasting on delicious turkey, stuffing, cranberries and more (we've even got one for the non-meat eaters).

Hood to Coast Turkey Trot



Date: Wednesday November 23, 2022
Distance: 5k, relay and 'Kids Trot'
Run Size: 1,000

Be the first to see the lights! The Turkey Trot 5k run/walk speeds you through Sunshine Division Winter Wonderland at Portland International Raceway. There will be music and a post-race party! The course will be well marked by the holiday lights, volunteers, and a pace car will lead the charge. 

Note that this event happens the evening before Thanksgiving! Prizes will be given to the Top 3 male and female finishers of the 5k race. Prizes will be given to the top run and walk relay team.

ORRC Turkey Trot at the Oregon Zoo


Date: Thursday November 24, 2022
Distance: 4-mile run/walk and kids 'Tot Trot'
Run Size: 3,000

The most popular ORRC race, the Turkey Trot at the Zoo is a multi- generational family event, Portland's oldest and biggest Turkey Trot. 4-mile participants receive an awesome 'Turkey Trot At The Zoo' finisher medal, KIND bar, and the chance to win one of 150 pumpkin pies they're giving out! Participants finish inside the zoo at the Elephant Plaza much to the delight of two-legged and four-legged mammals alike. Approximately $25,000 of entry fees go to benefit the Oregon Zoo.

Clark County Turkey Trot (RunGuides Editor's Pick)

Clark County Turkey Trot
Date: Thursday November 24, 2022
Distance: 5k and 10k
Run Size: 1,250

The race will take place at 5 locations all throughout Clark County on Thanksgiving Day morning. COVID is keeping us from one gigantic event at Klineline/Salmon Creek, but allowing us this year to spread out over 5 different sites.  Find a site that works for you.  There is even a “race-when-you-can” option that lets you select the day and time you want to run or walk.  All 5 sites will be open from 8am-10am, have refreshments, and 5K course timing at 9am.  Registration will include a racer’s goody bag and also a Turkey Trot 2021 T-shirt.
