In this edition of Get To Know Your Running Clubs we spoke with Liz Carey, co-organizer of USA Fit Denver. The USA Fit Denver club designs training programs to help runners and walkers of ALL ability levels train safely and effectively for a marathon or half marathon. Liz and her team of coaches design running programs for runners just beginning to get into the sport to seasoned marathoners.

Hi Liz! Tell us a bit about your club history!
USA Fit Denver is celebrating 20 years of runner training in Denver. Our group's coaches including myself (Liz), Melissa, Matt and Mike are dedicated to walkers and runners most effectively for half-marathon and marathon training.
Tell us a bit about your membership? What level of runners do you cater to?
Beginner? Seasoned marathoner? Great. No matter what your conditioning or pace, there will be others to train with. Over the course of six short months, the coaches help runners achieve personal bests in a non-intimidating, fun, and safe environment. Fit Denver is a great group that spans from first timers to Boston Qualifiers! We apply our focus to helping runners and walkers train safely and effectively to reach their aspirations and goals.
Where/when does your club usually meet/run?
The group typically meets in the Washington Park area of Denver. Throughout the season we head to different spots around the Denver Metro area to try out different routes and change things up a bit!
In addition to these scheduled sessions, members often meet up informally to run on other days, particularly for Tempo Tuesday runs, and Sunday long runs. So, there's a bit of a mix of casual runs and structured workouts.
Any cost to be a member/join?
Yes, there's a fee for getting coached. The season starts in the spring (just opened up registration in March) and runs about 24 weeks. For the 2018 season the cost is $140 for new members and $110 for returning members. Any cool routes/favourite areas to run in your city that you would like to recommend to other runners?
Denver offers so many great neighborhoods, parks, and trails that it is tough to pick a favorite! The High Line Canal Trail is a favorite for long benchmark runs around the city.
Do you have any favourite local races? Outside of anything that you're affiliated with of course :)
The Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon is a favorite of the group and we try to incorporate it into our season. We will also be targeting the Colorado Springs Marathon and Half Marathon as one of our goal races this season!
Anything else that we should know?
USA Fit Denver is a group of friends training for whatever their goal may be while having a great time. Having the support of the group makes training for a race that much better!
