Get to Know Your Running Clubs - San Diego Track Club
In this edition of Get to Know Your Running Clubs we chatted with Jessie McBride of the San Diego Track Club. SDTC is San Diego's oldest and largest running club. At SDTC runners of all levels train for all distances!
Tell us a bit about your club history, how long has the club been around?
San Diego Track Club was founded in 1954. Our mission is to support the development of distance running, track and field, and related sports in and around San Diego County. We have experienced coaches, dedicated mentors, low cost races and over 750 members.
Tell us a bit about your members! What level of runners do you cater to?
SDTC is perfect for all levels of runners. Our members range in ability from beginner to experienced, social runner to competitive team member, young to mature. It's a great place to find other runners to run your pace and share your running goals.
When does your club usually meet/run?
Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Are your group runs mostly casual or more structured workouts?
Mix of casual runs and structured workouts.
Any cost to be a member/join?
$50 annual membership. Varying cost for half and full marathon training programs.
Is your group affiliated with any events?
Any cool routes/favorite areas to run in your city that you would like to recommend to other runners? Why do you like those?
We love running in Balboa Park, around Mission Bay, and anywhere along the coast line of San Diego (sunset cliffs, the boardwalk, La Jolla, Solana Beach, Encinitas and more!)
Do you have any favorite local races? Outside of anything that you're affiliated with of course :)
Anything else that we should know?
We encourage runners to come try out a workout or two for FREE. We are a great group with runners of all ages and levels, and would love to meet you!
